ABOUT: Brick + Beam Detroit will present a four-part, in-person educational series on Racism in Property Ownership in Detroit. Online blogs and videos on our website will supplement the in-person series with additional resources to call for awareness and change today. Join us on July 25th for the fourth and final forum in the series.
Investing in Yourself - Invest in Detroit
Now that we understand the past and how it connects to the present - how can we invest in real estate in Detroit today? This session will look at investing into Detroit from two different perspectives: personal ownership and community investment. For personal ownership we will learn how mortgages work, purchasing a city owned property though the land bank, and tips for figuring out how to maintain a historic property once it is yours. For community investment we will learn from what neighborhood organizations are doing in Detroit today and how to fund community investment projects.
Speakers:
Orlando Bailey, Director of Engagement at Bridge Detroit
Joe Rashid, Executive Director at East Warren Development Corporation
