Have you ever wondered about where energy might be creeping out of your house? Are you interested in learning more about the ways professionals test for energy efficiency? We’ll walk through the whole house with Walker-Miller Energy Services, doing an energy audit and discussing ways to make a home more efficient.
What we’ll cover:
Home Airtightness: We’ll do a blower door test to measure how air filters out of the house and explore how and where air creeps out.
Combustion Analysis: We’ll test for furnace and water heater efficiency
Examining furnace and ducts for air leakage
Tactics to improve low energy performance
Who this is great for:
Anyone who wants to understand energy leakage and efficiency of their home better! Even if you don’t undergo these tests in your own home, we’ll also talk about low-fi ways to look for signs that you can improve energy efficiency.
Know-before-you-go:
Check out your heating system - do you have a furnace? A boiler? Look to see if there is a yellow “EnergyGuide” sticker on it, and check to see if there is a sticker that states what year it was manufactured.
Check out your insulation levels. Do you have an attic, or a second floor with a hatch that extends to the roofline of your house? What kind of insulation do you see (or not see) in these spaces?
