REGISTER HERE: Eventbrite Registration
Join us for an 8-session series on repairing historic windows! This class will take place in a Detroit home featuring historic wood windows. The classes will take participants through the process of repairing wood windows from start to finish, including lead safety training, how to deconstruct the window and remove the sashes, how to remove paint, set glass, glaze, hang and re-install.
After the 4 hands-on class sessions, each participant will be assigned to a lab group of 3-4 participants. The next three sessions will be learn-along labs where participants will work together on restoring windows at 4 different locations (in participant homes).
In the 8th session (5th class session), participants will come back together an report to the group what was learned in labs. The instructor will also provide additional wrap-up information and resources.
Participants: This series will accomodate 12-15 participants. Participants will be required to apply, residents of Detroit, Hamtramck or Highland Park who have wood windows in their home will be prioritized. A safety waiver will be required from all participants. The registration fee for the series will be $125, and we will also have several reduced fee scholarship spots available at $65.
