Ready for more terrifying smiles? After the major box office success of Smile in 2022, the scary story is back for round two. The first film is about a therapist who has a series of disturbing visions after seeing a patient die by suicide. This is to say: She sees people making a really freaking weird smile and warning her of her own death. Yikes! The sequel switches things up. Smile 2 is about a pop star, who begins having the same sorts of visions. Naomi Scott stars as the singer, Skye Riley, and the cast also includes Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, and Kyle Gallner, the latter of whom was also featured in the first movie as the police officer Joel.

In the sequel, pop singer Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) is tortured by a smiling curse that forces people to hallucinate until they commit suicide. The film also stars Rosemarie DeWitt (The Staircase) as Skye's mother, Lukas Gage (You) as Skye's drug dealer, and Ray Nicholson (Panic) as Skye's deceased ex-boyfriend. Famously the son of Jack Nicholson, Ray is featured several times throughout the film imitating his father's patented "Kubrick State."

With the sequel off to a successful start at the box office, it seems inevitable that Smile will become horror's next big franchise-meaning that a third installment is likely on the way. To see the fright-filled sensation for yourself, you can rent the first film on most streaming platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, Paramount+, and Apple TV+.

Since Smile 2 just premiered on October 18, the only place to catch the sequel is in theaters. By the end of the year, though, we're willing to bet that the sequel will stream on the platforms above to rent or buy. A few months after its theatrical release, Smile 2 should be available to stream exclusively on Paramount+. By then, we may even find ourselves permanently grinning in our seats for Smile 3 and beyond.

The Smile 2 release date has been set for October 18, 2024. This will mean the Smile sequel will arrive around two years after the original, and like the first movie, it will also have a theatrical release. While there's no news on when it will be available to stream it's expected that Smile 2 will also make its way to Paramount+.

Right now, Smile 2 is only available in theaters. The only way to see it is to buy a movie ticket. The date of the horror sequel's streaming premiere isn't known yet but it'll be on Paramount+ a few months after it's theatrical run ends.

Since Smile 2 is being released by Paramount Pictures, naturally, it will stream on the studio's platform, Paramount+. As reported by Variety in 2022, it was announced that starting in 2024 all Paramount Pictures movies would head to the streaming service after their release.

Since Smile 2-like the original Smile-is a Paramount Pictures release, look for the film to make its streaming video on demand debut on Paramount+. You must be a subscriber to Paramount+ to view the streamer's content.

Generally, the window for Paramount's films from theatrical to SVOD is about two months. For example, the studio's family comedy IF-which opened in theaters on May 17-debuted on SVOD on Paramount+ 54 days later on July 9.

Smile 2 hit theaters on October 17, and since it's a strictly theatrical release at first, it won't be available to stream right away. Generally, Paramount Pictures new releases hit Paramount+ around two months after their theatrical release. For example, the Mean Girls musical debuted in theaters on January 12 and headed to Paramount+ on March 5. Bob Marley: One Love hit theaters February 14 and then Paramount+ on April 12. IF premiered on May 17 and began streaming July 9.
