Bloober Team Announces New Horror Project, Cronos: The New Dawn
Bloober Team, the studio behind the 2024 remake of Silent Hill 2, has revealed its latest horror venture, Cronos: The New Dawn. Building on the success of its recent releases, Cronos: The New Dawn is set to deliver a chilling combination of survival and psychological horror, drawing inspiration from iconic games like Resident Evil and Dead Space.
Known for its psychological horror titles, such as the Layers of Fear series and the recent Silent Hill 2 remake, the Polish studio has gained widespread recognition. The Silent Hill 2 remake, in particular, was a commercial hit, topping sales charts worldwide and earning several nominations at The Game Awards 2024. Just nine days after the release of the remake, Bloober Team teased its next project, Cronos: The New Dawn, with a 2025 release window for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Cronos: The New Dawn is a third-person survival horror set in a near-future dystopian world. In a recent interview with MP1st, the game’s director, Wojciech Piejk, revealed some details about what players can expect. The game will feature combat mechanics reminiscent of Resident Evil and Dead Space, including limb dismemberment. It will also introduce unique mechanics, such as the need to use a flashlight on enemies, similar to Alan Wake 2. While Piejk kept many details under wraps, he emphasized the game's strong focus on story and atmospheric exploration. Players have already started drawing comparisons to Dead Space, but they will have to wait until the game’s release to see how the two games compare.
